So what's
Azim's story?
Azim Moollan is a Mauritian film director and cinematographer, usually on the move - running around trying to make pretty images wherever the light, or life, feels right.
He began in documentary films in South Africa, studied cinematography in New York, and has since directed commercials for brands like Dove, Pepsi, Visa, et al. His film work spans from narrative to docs, features to series, and shorts, including projects for National Geographic and Amazon Original’s first season of The Family Man.
His short film Rod Zegwi Dan Pikan premiered at Palm Springs ShortFest and went on to screen at numerous festivals worldwide.
Between projects, you’ll find him in various states of tinkering - in a darkroom coaxing images out of celluloid, patching modular synths to record strange sounds, or turning a van into a mobile experimental cinema lab.
His work drifts between commercials, films, and live experiments that blur the line between image, sound, and reflections on the human experience. Always searching for that quiet moment where art and accident meet.
